I have an Inspiration
A clear Aspiration
To pursue the Realization
Of a True Revolution.
Look at our Nation
And see the Frustration
Of the New Generation.
Our Leaders have no Direction
Our Youths are in Desperation.
There is no other Option
But to Right for Liberation
Fight against their Intimidation
For our Total Emancipation.
◾Revolutionary 🔸|adjective| Pertaining to something that portends of Great Change; overthrowing a standing mindset.
I remember this at a time when Motherland and Continent are in turmoil. Political chaos here and there and basically all we do it sit and say oh this government !
Its funny how most African countries are Democratic and still a way is found such that, in my opinion, 75% of elected officials are corrupt.
◾Democracy 🔸|noun| Rule by the people, either directly or through elected representatives. Characterized by social equality and equal rights for all people.
And we “elect” this “bad government” there for what ? For why ? Propangda ? Promises ? Oh, ofcourse the Bags of rice. Sigh.
Do we not think of how we suffered in the hands of the outgoing officials ?
Do we not think of all our wishes, regrets and ofcourse our curses on them ??
DID WE NOT THINK that maybe, just maybe, if we forfeited the Bags of rice from The Corrupt and put a Good Man in there we would have the Resources to grow our own rice or start a Business ???
And then some have the shameless audacity to curse at the ones who tried to leave illegally to make a headway for themselves. The ones whose most wrong was in thinking its all rosy “in the abroad “. The ones who have learnt the hard way it isn’t. The ones who were so unfortunate to be auctioned like prized oxen in Libya. I do hope these “great thinkers” deserve every ounce of misfortune that will surely come to th…….Hold on. I digress.
Did we not think that they could be a revolution ? A change. A stance for what is right ??
Who will rise for a Revolution ? Will My Generation beget no Mandela & No Nkrumah & No Lumumba & No Sankara & No Biko & No Kuti ?????
In Nigeria, at 30 you legally qualify to hold the office of a representative in parliament, at 35 a senator and at 40 a President.
What are our 30 year olds doing now ?
I see em.
🔸In one end we have the Doctors & Lawyers & Engineers. The ones who serve us Academic/Skill Goals. The ones that studied/worked hard and made it for themselves. The ones that have or ‘are saving to’ emigrate. So ? What’s their concern ? They worked hard for a good life innit ?
🔸This way we’ve got The Talkers. The-talk-the-talk-wait-for-someone-to-walk-the-talk. The juicy bloggers. The journalists who do it just for the pay. The comedians/actors/musicians who’ll speak it indirectly. They do try. But who then will walk-the-talk ?
🔸Lastly there’s our Continental Treasures the Yahoo Boys (or is it G Boys now?). These brave ones who are paying back the white men (who BTW could also be women needing love. It doesn’t matter does it?) for Slavery. Oh and the girls & fam who live off them. Yes, yes you too are among.
🔸Oh how could I forget the Others. The ones who could be a part of at least one from above. The Thirties who are constantly serving the younger generation Instagram Wedding Goals / Relationship Goals / Body Fitness Goals and the likes ? Haha, Y’all good.
Hmm. I’m not so far from my 30’s (#winkwink) and I’d like to come back here one day and see where I’d fit.
Because maybe then I’d have faced circumstances that’ll help me understand why men who ruled like animals in mad men skin decades ago are back and running for President and the Thirties who were told bedtime stories and sang Assembly Ground songs of being the Leaders of Tomorrow relegate as their touts.
Again ? Is there any hope of Change and a Revolution in my time ? Of a Mandela / Nkrumah / Lumumba / Sankara / Biko / Kuti rising ?
Damn. Many of My Generation won’t even recognize these names.
Moving on. Because I’m a Happy Child, I can not, will not and DO NOT live constantly weighed down by these revolutionary thoughts. Oxymoronic, I know. Doesn’t mean I no longer care.
But One has to Stay Sane.
On this, My Friend said to me; ‘Silence Is Respect.’
‘ Is Acknowledgement.’
(for The Wronged, for Wrongs, for Suffering).
And I Agree. Because what could I do really ?
Yet. I know; Silence Is Consent. And What We Allow, Continues.
